This Essex couple wanted a relaxed and intimate wedding in the sunshine – and they found Malta to be the perfect location! Planned by Sarah Young, their day was exactly as they wished – even with unplanned giggles when the groom’s ring wouldn’t fit!

We met… in the tackiest nightclub in Essex! (RIP Zeus)
First impressions of your husband… bit of an idiot… lovely eyes… good sense of humour!!
His first impressions of you… amazing, stunning and far too intelligent for me.
Our proposal was… Rob proposed on a fantastic night out during a surprise trip to Pisa – it was our 10th anniversary of being together!
Our bridesmaids/groomsmen were… bridesmaids were my sister and two closest friends; Rob’s best mates were groomsmen and best man.
My dress was… slim fitting, 30’s style halter-neck in off white satin silk. Glamorous but understated (I hope!)
How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? For research generally, especially accessories. Always good to get inspiration from other couples’ weddings.
Our ceremony… intimate and relaxed with personal vows and plenty of giggling (especially when the groom’s ring wouldn’t fit!)
We chose our venue because… we wanted a wedding abroad with only our closest friends and family. The venue felt relaxed but beautiful and romantic. It just felt perfect for a chilled out day.
Our wedding theme/colours… summer garden wedding, fuchsia calla lilies and butterflies.
What was your favourite part of the wedding? The whole day was amazing. Impossible to pick a favourite part. The band was incredible and celebrating with your best friends and closest family was the best feeling ever. We didn’t want it to end!
Our first dance song was… Jason Mraz – I’m Yours
What is your advice for other brides? We were lucky enough to have Sarah Young as our Wedding Planner, as it would’ve been really tough to pull everything together for a wedding abroad. Sarah put us at ease and was incredible. No matter what issues arise, any anxieties will vanish the second you see your friends and family looking happy and excited to be part of such a special day.
