Happy Friday! This week’s Real Wedding comes from Jeannie and Peter who teamed up with our new friends Best Wedding Away to create one of the most stunning lake side wedding we’ve seen in a long time. Our lucky couple said ‘I do’ at the stunning Malcesine castle in Italy and wowed their guests with picturesque views and an unforgettable boat trip. Don’t believe me? Have a look for yourself!
Bride and Groom… Jeannie and Peter
Wedding date… Monday 26th August 2013
We met… In Cyprus at a friend’s wedding.
The proposal… Peter planned to propose in a hot air balloon, but it got cancelled due to the typical English weather. Luckily we were going to Cape Verde a week later and he proposed there.
We knew it was ‘the one’… Jeannie, “sounds cheesy but I never thought he wasn’t the one!”
Peter, “I think I knew pretty much straight away, from our first date.”
Length of engagement… 22 months
My dress was… An Ian Stuart gown. I visited a lot of wedding shops, which made me realise I liked so many different things from each dress and the thought of getting one made and getting it right was scary. Bellissima wedding shop was amazing. Kay and Doris helped me to get the perfect wedding dress. I wanted a lace dress with a low back and a halter neck. The original Ian Stuart dress was adjusted with Doris’s skills to create my perfect dress.
Our groomsmen were… Pete’s best friend Lee and Pete’s brothers Gary and Tony. We also had 2 Ushers Ray and Scott.
Our bridesmaids were… My best friend Ann and my sister Jessica.
Our wedding ceremony was… At the Malcesine Castle, Lake Garda. We chose a fairytale castle overlooking the lake for our intimate civil ceremony, which included 60 guests.

Our wedding photographer was… Francesco and Andrea from Independent Pictures Photography. Stunning photos from 2 very professional friendly photographers.
Our wedding reception was… The Amazing La Casa degli Spiriti. We spent a weekend in Lake Como and Garda looking at venues, with Best Wedding Away our wedding planners. The castle and restaurant turned out to be the last venues we saw, we knew instantly they were the right venues for us! All the venues were kept a secret from our guests so they could get the wow factor and it worked our guests are still talking about the venues!
Wedding theme was… Turquoise and white with a hint of love! The bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsmen’s ties were Turquoise. The flowers were white roses and we chose Italian love words for the table names.

Our favourite part of the wedding was… The whole day from the castle, the boat trip to the aperitifs at Torri Del Benaco but one thing that stands out was seeing the guests’ faces and reactions to the stunning views at the restaurant. Everything really was perfect.
Our first dance was… Can’t take my eyes off you by Frankie Valli
Our wedding unique and special because… We had all our friends and family out on Lake Garda with us. Having everyone together for a few days created such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding? All the speeches were very funny and by the end of the night my dad had earned the name of “snake hips” because of his smooth dancing.
What is your advice for other brides? Everyone said the same thing to me ‘Enjoy it as it goes so fast’ and I can totally agree. Also being organised really helped. Keep a folder of ideas, extracts or pictures from magazines to help with the theme.
Our honeymoon… We’ll be going to Singapore and Bali in March 2014.
