This December and New Year, wedding bells will be ringing as an astounding 800K UK couples are set to get engaged over the festive period.
Research by family jewellers Beaverbrooks found that of people in an unmarried relationship, one in 20 are currently planning to get down on bended knee and propose to their partner.
Research by UK’s leading wedding website Confetti.co.uk found that nearly 10% of 2014 engagements occurred during Christmas and up to 2% occurred on New Year’s with 25% occurring at home. Further research from Confetti.co.uk revealed that men are still most likely to pop the question.
Confetti.co.uk’s editor, Anyonita Green, states, “Christmas is naturally a magical time of year. Add in the romance of a wedding proposal and you’ve set the scene for fond memories. Christmas proposals are especially unique because they lend themselves to so many interesting ideas. Our favourite is slipping the engagement ring inside a homemade Christmas cracker!”
