Let’s face it. The British Isles isn’t known for balmy weather. We’ll never make it on anybody’s list of hottest beach holiday destinations and chances are, if you’re planning on getting married here there will be rain on your wedding day. While in other places in the world, the idea of rain on a wedding day is an omen for bad luck, in England, it’s par for the course. So here is how to absolutely smash rainy wedding day photography:
Abide by the UK Wedding Golden Rule
The golden rule of any UK wedding is to be prepared for the weather to get very British very quickly. That’s just what our lovely friends Laura and Matt did last September. Pink and polka dots were the theme and Laura looked radiant with rosy cheeks and expertly-applied pink lipstick. Her bridesmaids donned stunning electric pink frocks and they all toted posies of white and pink blooms down the aisle. The groomsmen sported pink cravats and ‘kerchiefs, but the accessory that commanded attention was the oversized pink brolly Matt kissed his bride under in a lush garden.
Show Off Those Pins
Whether a bride lifts her dress to show off those fabulous W Day Jimmy Choos or reveals a bit of leg as the groom hunts for the garter, it has become a bit of a tradition for the bride to show off her legs at some point during her wedding day. Take a note from our mates Jessica and Justin and don’t let the rain stop you from showing off your gorgeous legs, ladies! (And gents, for those who feel so inclined…)
Toast the British Weather
You don’t have to like the weather, but you have to deal with it, right? Right. So you might as well embrace it and raise your glasses to it because whether you want it there or not, if the British skies are going to rain, they’re going to rain and your nuptials won’t prevent that from happening. Don’t think you can do it? Cho and Enio will show you how to raise a finger to the rain, the classy way. Champers, anyone?
