There are two ways to beat the autumn chill – wed somewhere sunny… or simply – propose! In the first instance, you really must leave the UK to have a chance at getting some of that very photogenic sunlight (ours is far too unpredictable!) In the second, the future groom will feel not a little warm as he gets down on one knee and asks that immortal question, followed no doubt by a further flush as she says YES! The lucky lady will be no doubt equally affected. And that’s exactly what some of our local and not-so-local celebs did in the last few weeks!

The biggest wedding news belonged to one Jack Osbourne, son of that beloved kooky pair Ozzy and Sharon. One cannot help but wish Jack all the best – this is really great news, following his health issues made public earlier this year. Jack and his bride Lisa Stelly jetted off to Hawaii (see, guaranteed sunshine!) with the ‘rents in tow during the first weekend of October, and Hello Magazine got the whole story. The M-I-L looked almost as fresh-faced as the gorgeous bride, and Jack’s little daughter was a stunner in her own right – almost stole her mum’s spotlight! Lisa wore a refreshingly non-strapless gown embellished at the neckline, with a scalloped-edge veil and her hair worn simply glam and sleek. The groom looked handsome in his blue suit (he’s come a long way from Sloppytown!) Say ‘awww’ everyone, and we wish Jack all the best!

With endless reruns of Fresh Prince of Bel Air here and across the pond, Will Smith’s uptight cousin Carlton Banks (oh the dancing, the dancing…) is still a character beloved by many… even though the sitcom ended in the late 1990s! As there’s no business like show business, and there’s no news like wedding news, Carlton… errr… Alfonso Ribeiro (his real name!) has tied the knot for the second time on Saturday October 13th with his fiancee Angela Unkrich. The next day he confirmed the news by the most romantically efficient means available today – that is Twitter. He called her “the most incredible woman in the world” and she in return felt “so happy and blessed” – long may it continue!

Love him or hate him, our Guy Ritchie, has had his share of romantic ups and downs, and yet he still believes in love, and we say – good for him! Earlier this month he proposed to his long-time girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley. With the second baby on the way (the couple already have a son, born in September 2011), Guy has just made his life that much sweeter. We hope this good news (and many more years of marital bliss) will finally put an end to him being referred to as “Madonna’s ex-husband” once and for all!
And the biggest recent proposal news accolade goes to – the Davenport University mascot!
