Celebrity Weddings – All The Gossip!

Just because the wedding seasons is winding down, it’s not stopping celebs, our own and abroad, from tying the knot despite the unreliable weather (except in California of course…)

Anne Hathaway Wedding, Anne Hathaway with husband

It was a weekend of weddings with arguably the sassiest version of Catwoman, 29-year-old Anne Hathaway tying the knot to fellow actor and partner of 4 years, 31-year-old Adam Shulman. The bride wore an off-the-shoulder Valentino gown (well, she is his muse) with yards of chiffon, and 1920’s inspired headband and veil framing her pixie-cut. The wedding took place in Big Sur, California. It was a relatively simple affair with the couple managing to keep to a modest 150 guests, with few of the wedding party being ‘industry types’. Anne’s stunt double attended and somehow resisted making an entrance dressed in a full-skirted wedding dress and zooming down the aisle on Anne’s Dark Knight Rises motorcycle. Personally I think they missed an opportunity there… the general consensus online so far seems to be – good luck lovely Anne, splendid gown, not sure about the head dress thing… I say – don’t judge until we see clearer pics!

Cat Deeley Wedding, Cat Deely with husband

Even more low-key than Catwoman’s Big Day was that of presenter Cat Deeley and Irish comedian Patrick Kielty. This was possibly the most secret secret wedding… EVER – there hasn’t even been a wedding photo released to the media yet! Despite having met ten years ago whilst working on X-Factor’s predecessor (the talent show Fame Academy), the couple have only been an item for nine months – with Cat previously stating that she had ‘finally seen the light’ (aww)! 60 close friends and family members attended the wedding in Rome, after being informed of the forthcoming event in only a matter of days prior. Patrick flew his local parish priest out to officiate, and best friend and DJ Edith Bowman acted as Cat’s bridesmaid. With Cat tweeting a picture of herself and Patrick at an Emmy Awards ceremony just a week ago along with the caption ‘and then they lived… happily ever after’ the hints have arguably been there for all to see but still, nobody caught on…

Holly Valance Wedding, Holly Valance with husband

An altogether more lavish affair (and at least from the pictures released – more cleavage-revealing thanks to that £35,000 J’Aton designed gown), were the (reportedly in excess of) £2 million costing nuptials of actress, Holly Valance and British millionaire property tycoon, Nick Candy. Taking place in Beverley Hills, there was nothing ‘low key’ about this particular event, with Katy Perry being hired as wedding singer to perform a 45 minute set, and A-list guests including both Simon Cowell and Sir Elton John. One wonders if they put their differences aside for an embarrassing drunken wedding performance of Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart! With a wedding as well-planned at this one, I would imagine Holly and Nick had staff employed to prevent such occurrences. World media has reported that the wedding was planned to last for 3 days – and why not!

Martine McCutcheon Wedding, Martine McCutcheon with husband

Our very own real-life new bride Martine McCutcheon went for the currently-in vintage theme in a gown designed by bridal fashion house Pronovias, with the whole event helpfully and colourfully relayed by HELLO magazine. Despite playing the hopelessly sweet and endearing love interest of the Prime Minister in Richard Curtis’s romantic 2003 cheesefest film Love Actually, Martine is arguably still best known for playing downtrodden Tiffany in the weeknight staple EastEnders, and for educating the nation about a particular brand of yogurts that give you a “happy tummy.” The wedding took place in the seriously romantic setting of Lake Como, Italy as 36-year-old Martine married 28-year-old musician Jack McManus who cut a dashing figure in black suit and bow-tie whilst Martine was, quite rightly, left to shine in her own Perfect Moment (sorry, but it was her only number one single and it does deserve a name check!)  To be fair to Jack though, choosing to make his arrival in a speedboat featured in the film Ocean’s 12 is certainly some entrance! Beaming from ear to ear the couple looked beyond happy and with Martine marrying the man she has often previously referred to as her ‘best friend’, isn’t that exactly how things should be?

Two for Cali, two for Italy – what exciting wedding news and gossip will next week bring? We can’t wait to find out!
