We were at the National Wedding Show at the Birmingham NEC, where the vibe was fun, the catwalk was dazzling and now so are our teeth. Here are the highlights of another truly inspirational weekend, from the wedding dresses to the beauty demos, the glittering accessories and don’t miss our photo booth fun.
It was fun to leisurely browse the many varied stands, find new inspiration and take advantage of exclusive show deals. The champagne bar glittered while the many cafes and VIP enclosure were filled with excited future brides and grooms, their parents and friends.
Inspiration tent
The inspiration tent had a series of wedding experts and demonstrations that were informative and interesting. The Top 10 Dresses presentation was a half hour discussion with bridal stylist, Fran Lee, the expert behind the last 25 National Wedding Show catwalk shows.
Fran took us through how to wear the current most popular gowns with top tips on which styles are more flattering on certain body shapes and which fabrics are best for weddings abroad. There were a variety of wedding experts giving tips on beauty, wedding planning and top trends for 2014.
Catwalk shows
The catwalk show is the highlight of the day, a gorgeous half hour of the very latest wedding dress collections from top designers and high street names, dazzling to music. The shows were choreographed with different themes with a focus on vintage style and a real carnival feel.
So much to see
We had our skin softened, our photos taken in a funky photo booth for hire, we even had our teeth professionally whitened. Beautiful brides-to-be tried on gorgeous gowns, had their nails manicured and even got to fire a shotgun!
There were several amazing bands playing live, brilliant for anyone considering booking a live act for their reception, and various stands with menswear, bridal gowns and little bridesmaid and flower girl outfits too.
Why go to the show
The National Wedding Show really is a huge event that is well worth a visit. It’s a whole day out and alongside the goodie bags there are all sorts of things to try. I stood on a fat wobbling machine… I know how to have a good time.
