Confetti would like you to take a few minutes to read this article. As our brides-to-be we know how excited you are about your upcoming nuptials. We’re just as excited as you are! We know exactly how you’re feeling; the butterflies in your stomach, the goose bumps you get when thinking about your perfect day, and the plans you have for growing old together.
And Confetti are here to help you every step of the way.
However, it has come to our attention that not every couple has this opportunity. There are hundreds of men and women in the UK living with life limiting conditions or terminal illnesses who long to marry their soul mates.
We would like to introduce The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, an organisation launched in 2012 with a single purpose; organising and funding weddings for couples affected by terminal or life-limiting illness.
To give you an idea of what the Foundation does, we would like to share the experience of Naomi Thomas, founder of the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation:
“In September 2010, just six days after the birth of my son, I received the devastating news that the cancer I believed I’d beaten a few short months before had returned and was no longer curable. At the time I had been engaged to my soul mate, Graham, for just over a year and the thought of never marrying him was heart-breaking. The financial implications of cancer, or any long-term illness, make it almost impossible for couples to marry; that big dream wedding suddenly slides down the list of priorities as far as money goes.
Fortunately for Graham and me a local wedding planner came to hear of our situation via appeals in the local media. She reached out to wedding suppliers in our local area and, thanks to her hard work and determination, as well as the generosity of the suppliers we were able to enjoy the day of our dreams in June 2012. We can’t thank Sam the planner and the wedding suppliers enough; they gave us a wedding day to remember.
Following our wedding I racked my brains for a way that I could help other couples in our situation. I hit upon the idea for a charitable organisation that could fund and organise weddings for couples affected by terminal or life limiting illness; the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation was born.
Since its foundation in 2012 the charity has been able to help a number of couples to enjoy the wedding day that they deserve. We have met some wonderful people; some of them are still enjoying married life while others, unfortunately, have since passed away. It has been a pleasure to be associated with their special day and to be a part of their lives together, however briefly. It is our mission to help as many couples as possible and for this we need your help.”
Brides, we need you!
It is a sad fact that The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation have to turn down 80% of all wedding applications; that’s a significant number of people to have to let down each week. Naomi and her team simply don’t have the resources or funds to be able to help everyone as much as they’d love to, and so desperately need the help of brides (and grooms!), such as you, to fulfil the dreams of as many couples as possible. Why not consider making a donation to the charity, or dedicating your Gift List to The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation? There are so many ways that you can help to fundraise and raise awareness of our cause.”
If this has touched your heart as it has our
s, and would like to help there are a number of ways that you can help The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation.
