Not everyone knows their way around every part of the country, and not every Sat-Nav knows every road and every postcode. So it’s important your guests are organised—that they know where they have to be and when they have to be there. There could be nothing worse than spending years planning and organising your big day for half the guests to show up late—or maybe not at all. So leave no stone unturned in making it easier for them to arrived safely and on time.

Can you make things easier for your guests by enclosing a small printed map in the envelope of your wedding invitation? It will ensure guests don’t get lost. Or, if you don’t want this to take away from the overall look of your invitation, why not send it separately, closer to your big day? This may save much-needed time for your guests and show them you care about them even more. You could even give the map a test run before the big day to make sure it is accurate!
Depending on where you are having your wedding, you may want to include parking arrangements to keep everyone right. For instance, you don’t want guests parking in front of the church or beside the marquee, meaning their cars will be showing up in every picture. The only cars you want in these areas are the wedding cars!

Transportation is a big deal in order to get everyone from A to B. Exciting, right? Like a little road trip for your closest friends and family! But transporting some of your guests may be a bit more difficult. Not every family get on like a house on fire, and perhaps not everyone at your wedding will be friends. Take this into consideration when organising wedding transport. Your aunt Nora and cousin Jenny may not have spoken for 5 years, so don’t put them in the same wedding car, or place them at the same table at the reception—unless you want the firework display to start early! Be mindful of your guests.
If there is a great distance between your wedding ceremony venue and the reception venue you may want to consider hiring some form of transport to accommodate everyone. You could hire a double decker bus to fit all of your guests in and transport them between the two. Look into the cost of this—it may not be as expensive as you think. It may actually offer some peace of mind and help you and your guests to relax and enjoy the day more. If you do provide a bus, and it’s a particularly long journey, be sure to provide some form of refreshments. This could just be bottled water or, if you dare, some wine to get them into the spirit of the occasion. And don’t forget the wedding car decorations, adding a wedding flavour to the bus!

Anyone who’s tried to organise large events—coordinating dozens, or even hundreds, of people—will tell you it never runs as smoothly as you’d imagine it should. For this reason, you may feel safer if you appoint a trusted friend or relative to act as transport coordinator on your big day. His or her role will be to ensure every guest gets from the wedding venue to the reception, be it by ordering them taxis, arranging them to get a lift with other guests, or making sure they all board the bus. This will take a load off your mind and make sure everything runs smoothly.
