Charlotte and Christopher went back to college and transformed the place they first met into a dream wedding location. Their traditional wedding in Cambridge was given a rustic Christmas twist with mince pies and egg nog served as canapes, a twinkling tree and snow-like baby’s breath centrepieces. Their chosen photographers, JK Photography, were on hand to masterfully capture the entire occassion.

Wedding Date: 10 December 2011
Wedding Ceremony: Downing College, Cambridge | Reception: South Farm, Shingay-cum-Wendy

We met… At university at Downing College
First impressions of your husband… a bit lost in the Freshers’ Week haze!
His first impressions of you… ditto!
The proposal… Out walking on Wimbledon Common, near where we live.
Our ceremony… Intimate and traditional, with lots of Christmas carols to celebrate the time of year, and readings from family members.
My favourite part of the wedding… Walking up the aisle and seeing my husband turn towards me with a big smile on his face.
My dress… Heavy cream satin with lace detailing – demure and simple but very special, making me feel like a 50’s film star.
We chose our venue because… It is where we met, and so is a very special place to us both.
Our wedding theme/colours… No specific theme, but a traditional and vintage feel, with lots of navy, cream and silver.
Our first dance song… Love Me Do by The Beatles
My advice for other brides-to-be… Try to imprint every minute of the day on your brain, it goes by so fast. Make sure you relax and enjoy the fruition of all your hard work – nobody will notice if anything goes wrong, and it really is the most special day. Above all, take some time alone – we shared some champagne right at the end of the evening once all the guests had gone, and relived it all, which is one of my favourite memories of the day.
