Clare and Scott’s Real Engagement

Happy New Year! Congratulations to all our newly engaged couples. We know how excited you are so instead of having our usual Real Wedding we’re going to treat you with a Real Engagement. Clare and Scott got engaged in 2012 and with the help from the very talented Lisa Aldersley were able to capture their love in a heart-warming engagement shoot. This is a great way of sharing your wonderful news, it sets the tone for your big day and gives you the opportunity to introduce your selves as the future Mr and Mrs. I hope this shoot inspires all our newly engaged friends to get snapping.

Clare and Scott Real Engagement
Our engaged couple… Clare and Scott

You’re engaged! How does it feel? It feels great! We’ve had the most fun planning our wedding together knowing it’s going to be one of the biggest days of our lives, although saying the word fiancé does sound strange to us.

We got engaged…  9am on the 10th November 2012, Scott wanted 9,10,11,12

The proposal… Scott took me away to a private boathouse on the lake for the weekend, early on the Saturday morning we went out in our rowing boat where he got out the ring from his rucksack and proposed to me.  We then went for a walk up Aira Force waterfall and sat on our balcony in the evening looking out onto the lake drinking champagne. It was the most amazing weekend ever.

Was it a surprise? Completely, I thought we were going away to celebrate 6 months in our first home. We had both been really busy with work for the past few months so I had no clue at all. Looking back he didn’t let the rucksack out of sight since we left for The Lake District which I now understand why.

We knew they were ‘the one’…  We met when we were both 16 years old and have been together for 8 years now. Every day we laugh our heads off with each other and have been through so much over the years we both can’t imagine ever spending our lives with anyone else.

My ring was… truly beautiful, rose gold and super sparkly.

What do you remember most about the proposal? Life jackets, being terrible at rowing with the boat just spinning in circles on the lake, being stunned for a good 30 seconds followed by emotional tears, and being deliriously happy rowing back across the lake to the boat house.

Did you have a party? Not really, we tied it in with a Christmas break with our friends and stayed in a cottage for a few days, that’s more our style than big parties.

Our big day is… 30th August 2014. We are getting married in New House Farm which is a barn in Lorton, The Lake District. It’s going to be a really relaxed, intimate day with our close family and friends. We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed that it’s going to be sunny (or at least cloudy and dry) as we’re planning a BBQ, music chill out tent, and lots of fun and games! There are 5 bridesmaids. We don’t have a theme as such, but there’s definitely going to be lots of colour, wildflowers, dream catchers and homemade cocktails and cake!

We’re most looking forward to… Clare: Saying our vows, so we’re officially each others ‘forever’
Scott: Seeing Clare for the first time walking down the aisle in her dress

Does being engaged make a difference to your relationship? It’s not really changed us as a couple, although planning the wedding has definitely made us even closer.

What do you love most about your partner? Clare: I love Scott’s sense of humour, and how caring and thoughtful he is. Also, he knows when I’m moody and doesn’t take me on, he even has a joke about it which he calls ‘Saturday morning Mood’ as I seem to be a grump then but this helps bring me out of the mood.
Scott: I love Clare’s bubbly personality; she puts a smile on everyone’s face and even has better boy banter with my friends than I do.
