Tracey and Glenn have travelled together far and wide, it’s no surprise they decided to have a travel-themed wedding! Luggage tags, passports, maps, suitcases and more – a beautiful DIY project from invitations to table numbers. Then, they added in some gorgeous autumn colours to match the season and the Scottish castle setting. The result – absolutely stunning! Chantal Lachance-Gibson took these beautiful photos.
Bride and Groom: Tracey, Head of School at college in Glasgow, and Glenn, senior project manager
Length of engagement: 10 months
Wedding date: Sunday 21st October 2012
Wedding ceremony: Humanist ceremony at Airth Castle, Scotland
Wedding reception: Dunmore Ballroom at Airth Castle Hotel, Scotland
Wedding photographer: Chantal Lachance-Gibson Photography
Wedding theme/colours: Our wedding theme was based on our travel adventures: passports and boarding passes for invitations, vintage maps for table numbers and a vintage suitcase and luggage tags for our table planner – we made everything. Our colour theme incorporated the autumnal colours of October, mixed with white on white for the rooms, flowers and cake to create a contrast with the traditional Scottish castle setting.
Wedding dress by: Ritva Westenius Couture
First dance song: Candy by Paolo Nutini
Your favourite wedding story: There are so many, we had glorious weather; so warm and sunny our guests were able to sit outside in October. My amazing sister and best friend who helped me get ready and keep me calm, Glenn’s elderly Aunt Anne who had travelled from America to be with us and my dad’s words of wisdom as we were piped to the castle. A favourite story was the surprise and very theatrical “Address to a Haggis”, arranged by Airth Castle before the wedding breakfast. This was a first for most of our guest who were as surprised as us but loved the performance. We also hired a photo booth with a travel theme. By the end of the night we had an album of funny pictures and our guest were on the dance floor having a great time dressed in items from the dressing up box. Perfect end to a perfect day.
