This week’s Real Wedding comes from our hair and makeup artist Camilla J Collins, who has shown her talents extend to all cultures including Asian. Camilla’s eye for detail transformed our bride Devina in to an Indian princess. We can’t forget the rest of the day, from start to finish our gorgeous couple’s wedding is packed full of colour and culture; from their stunning traditional Hindu ceremony to their glamorous Indian styled wedding reception.
Bride and Groom… Devina and Shiv
Wedding date… Saturday 6th July
We met… At the gym.
The proposal… Shiv proposed at the Madison roof top gardens over sunset.
We knew it was ‘the one’… When he promised me he would buy a rose every day for 100 days; never did finish that one off.
Length of engagement… 1 year
My hair and make up was done by… Camilla Collins, she was amazing!
My wedding outfits were by… Mona Vora for the civil and Indian engagement; and my Indian wedding outfits were designed in India. I went for the traditional Indian style.
Our bridesmaids were… My sister and my two cousins, at the civil wedding they wore an orange saree.
Our groomsmen were… Shivs brothers both wore Indian outfits in coral and gold.
Our wedding Indian wedding ceremony and reception were… At the holiday inn, Borehamwood. It was reasonably priced, could fit 300 people and the location was perfect.
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding? One of the best bits was when we play a game at the end of the wedding where a ring goes into a bowl of milk and me and Shiv have to find it. I did win and the milk went over everyone, Kabz our photographer has a good shot of this.
Our wedding was unique and special because… The Hindu ceremony was performed in English so the priest did a modern day wedding, this was important to us as we wanted everyone to understand it, including ourselves.
Our wedding photographer was… Kabilan Raviraj, what a dude? I met him a long time ago when I was working next door to him, he then got in to photography and we took a leap of faith for our civil and Indian wedding and he was amazing! Amazing shots.
Our Wedding cake was… Indian style pillows and our civil cake was an elephant.
Our wedding colours were… Coral and gold
Our favourite part of the wedding was… The reception. I could let my hair down, literally.
Our first dance was to… Latch by Sam Smith
What is your advice for other brides? Weddings are a bottomless pit; you can keep spending so keep to your budget.
Our honeymoon was… To the Seychelles, it was beautiful.
