Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it
My dress was by Mori Lee (2105) which I bought from a little shop in Somerset. It was absolutely beautiful! I had a 3/4 length veil, ivory shoes and a fur shrug pinned with an antique pin.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had three bridesmaids who wore full lenth hunter green dresses, the colour suited all of them as they are all brunettes. They had ivory pashmina’s to wrap around them. I choose the colour because I didn’t want a colour scheme as such so went with the green colour from leaves/stems of the flowers.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
They all wore full uniform as all are serving in the armed forces.

Religious

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We had about 100 for the ceremony and wedding breakfast then about another 70 for the evening.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
We kept with the Ivory and Hunter Green theme. With all the men in uniform there was enough of a theme with them!!
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
We had lilies in a clear vase on a mirror with voitive candles which looked beautiful in the winter evening light. The favour boxes/place names were decorated slightly with pearls and hunter green ribbon and made with ivory card. The menus were placed in napkins and written in green on ivory shimmered paper.
Did you give your guests favours?
Yes, we made the boxes and bought thortons chocolates which we placed in some material and tied together with pearls
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
Ivory roses and some green foliage with pearls and vintage looking ribbon for my bouquet. The girls had smaller bunches without pearls. The church was filled with ivy and candles as well as some arrangements made from lilies. The table decorations were simple with a few open lilies and some foliage in vases on mirrors with voitive candles around it.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
The hotel provided the catering which was amazing. We had canapes and welcome drinks while some photos were being taken and everyone warmed up, then the meal was tomato and basil soup, roast sirloin of beef with yorkshire pudding and roast potaoes followed by a chocolate truffle dessert. The buffet was huge with cured hams, cheese boards, salads and home made breads.
What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?
We had the traditional fruit cake. Three tiers stacked ontop of each other. My husbands mum made the cake and my dads fiance iced it. The cake topper was made by a friend I used to work with. The icing was ivory and had ivy leaves cut into it (still ivory) there was a pearl trim and the topper was an icing version of me and Dan in our wedding outfits!

We had a string quartet playing as I walked down the aisle and while we signed the register. We had a harpist who played at the reception and then an amazing dance band who played in the evening!

No, we asked for money towards our honeymoon through a gifting service

We stayed in the hotel for our first night and we went on honeymoon a month later to the dominican republic which we booked through Thomas Cook
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Every part of it!!! Walking down the aisle to a rather emotional Dan. Hearing my sister blubber then turn into a mix of giggles and crying. Being too short to sit and sign the register and having to sit on two kneelers. Our lovely chaplain who is a close friend and his personal sermon (followed by dropping Dan’s ring!!) the amazing music… the first note when the church doors opening. The absolute freezing temperature!! Seeing Dan smile all day long and not leaving each other! The incredible band who kept everyone on the dance floor all night!
Did you experience any “nightmare” moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
A new job, house, location all in the two weeks before!! Having a military wedding meant that a lot of things had to be changed at last minute (all the musicans, photographer etc!)
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
I really wish that someone (or I) had made sure my dress was laid out to show it’s lovely train in all the photos… but that isn’t the end of the world at all!
