When was your wedding?

How and when did you meet?
Nearly four years ago at a mutual friend’s BBQ. We got introduced and talked all night! He left before me, got half way down the road in a taxi, then made the taxi turn around so he could get my phone number!
How old are you both?
I’m 25, he’s 37.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
Christmas Eve 2005, after he had gone to ask my Dad for permission! I had been working and was feeling a bit tired and down, until he popped the question and made it the best Christmas ever!
Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?
I spent a day at a spa with my mum and sister, then went to London for some shopping and a night out with my closest friends. Ceri had a BBQ at our house with all the boys.
How did your groom help with the wedding planning?
Ceri had an equal share in nearly all the planning. We’re both very impulsive and know what we want, so making decisions was relatively easy. Planning everything together made the day that much more special.
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
I used the forums for advice and also purchased things from the shop.
Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?
I bought some goods online.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it
I wore a Mori Lee dress, bought from a small local dress shop. It was nothing like I originally planned on buying but it was the most amazing dress I’d ever seen!
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had four bridesmaids and a page boy. I chose my sister, niece and nephew for obvious reasons! My other two bridesmaids were two of my best friends from work. My amazing sister made all the dresses, which were dusky pink halterneck floor length gowns.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Ceri chose his best friend Shaun for his best man, with his other best friend being the only usher. They wore chocolate brown suits from Pronuptia with cream and pink waistcoats, pink cravats and handkerchiefs.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We had a civil ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
Our ceremony was held at Chiseldon House Hotel in Wiltshire.
Where did you hold your reception?
In the same hotel.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
I had a silver chrysler 300 and my bridesmaids had a silver Mercedes.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
We had 60 guests to the day, with another 60 coming for the evening.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Our colour scheme was pink, cream and chocolate brown.
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
Ivory table linen, with pink ribbon on the napkins. Favour boxes and place cards matched our handmade invitations in cream, pink with silver hearts, chocolate brown favour boxes for the men! We also scattered pink heart confetti on the tables.
Did you give your guests favours?
Our favour boxes held dolly mixtures for the ladies, and flying saucers for the men!
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
My bouquet and the bridesmaids posies were handtied bunches of cream peonies, with pink bouvardia and lisianthus, and eucalyptus leaves. The buttonholes were made of the pink bouvardia. Table decorations were tall glass candlesticks surrounded by an arrangment of the same flowers.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
Our venue provided the food, which was amazing! We chose a duck and vegetable terrine to start, chicken supreme with stir fried veg and thai curry cream for main, followed by apple crumble. As I’m vegetarian we also had a veggie option!
What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?
My mum made our wonderful display of chocolate fairy cakes with pink icing hearts.
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We had a live band in the evening who were FANTASTIC!
Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
We chose Debenhams for our gift list.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We spent our first night in the hotel. Our honeymoon was a week in South Africa, followed by a week in Mauritius.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
I honestly can’t pick out one moment as the whole day was just immense! Well and truly the best day of my life.
Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?
100% hitch free I’m glad to say!
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
I wouldn’t have let people scare me about how stressful planning a wedding is! Which is also my advice to anyone else. So long as you make sure you get what you and your h2b want, nothing else matters! I thoroughly enjoyed planning my wedding!
