Jill And Colin’s Ivory And Coral Real Wedding

This week’s real wedding comes from Chantal Lachance Gibson Photography who captured Jill and Colin’s Scottish wedding beautifully, as always. Every loving moment is delightfully brought to life starting with the touching moments between with the bride and her bridesmaids, to the intimate humanist ceremony and ending with the wonderful dance routine preformed by their close friends the Anderson Dance Crew! We can’t forget the colour scheme, ivory and coral pink, a match made in heaven just like our gorgeous couple.

Jill and Colin's Real Wedding

Bride and Groom… Jill and Colin

Wedding date…Sunday 30th March 2014

We met… When I worked in a night club, Colin was on a night out and he asked for my phone number.

The proposal… Colin asked me to marry him as we walked along a beach in St Andrews. He used a Haribo ring to propose so that I could pick my own ring. He had the champagne and flutes ready!

I knew he was ‘the one’… When we met back in 2001, it hit me off from the start!

Length of engagement… 2.5 years

How did Confetti.co.uk help in your big day? It was great to read real weddings and other articles to get an idea of what to expect for our big day.

My dress was… A Sophia Tolli dress from June Brides in Glasgow. Carol is very experienced and gave herself the challenge of finding me the “one” and she did! The second dress I put on was perfect, and  I bought! It was nothing I had ever looked at before, it was made from lace with lots of detail giving it a gorgeous sparkle. I took all of my bridesmaids and my mum. Everyone cried when they saw me in it! I thought I was going for a modern, bustier type dress with a big trail. Instead I ended up with a modern vintage style. Modern in that there was sparkle and had the back cut out.

My accessories were… A cathedral length veil with subtle Swarovski diamanté with a soft ivory flower in my hair with pearl and diamanté. I finished it off with a freshwater pearl bracelet and matching droplet earrings from Beaverbrooks.

My hair and make up was… Done by my friend Stacy and Selina Stewart from The Beauty Studio in Glasgow. The girls were tried and tested and were totally amazing! I have used both girls before and knew they would do a great job! I wanted a full and loose look for my hair but also pinned up to show of the detail of the dress For my makeup I wanted it to be minimal but also striking in the eyes! Our wedding ceremony was held at… The Lochside House Hotel, New Cumnock. We had a Humanist ceremony with 120 guests. It was very informal and personal with us writing most of the ceremony in our own words. Memorable moments were walking down the aisle with my Grandpa and Colin messing up his vows!

Our wedding photographer was… Chantal Lachance Gibson & her partner Scott. They are a lovely couple who immediately put us at ease with a pre wedding shoot. On the day they completely blended into the background during the wedding and I was unaware of the fantastic pictures that they were capturing. They were cost effective and really easy to get on with.

Our groomsmen were… Gary as our best man, Jim, Mark and Liam as our ushers. Lucas as our  page boy. All males wore an exclusive kilt from Kils4U. It was charcoal grey with an ivory thistle pattern on it. A platinum cravat was worn by the groomsmen.

Our 5 bridesmaids were… Debby, Jennifer, Diane, Lyn and Karra. They wore coral pink knee length dresses with a draped halter neck. I picked both the colour and style as it suited all the girls and the season.

Our wedding flowers were… Ivory and coral. My bouquet was made up of fresh flowers in a range of ivory and coral. The colours matched our colour scheme and really brightened up the outfits. The men wore thistle button holes. My centrepieces were tall candle holders with large diamanté bowls. They had coral coloured bulbs inside to add colour to the room.

Our wedding reception…The Lochside House Hotel, New Cumnock. The reception was easy to choose. Modern hotel, very affordable, friendly staff and  excellent organization for smooth running on the big day! They also came highly recommended.

Our wedding colours were… Ivory with coral for the girls and charcoal for the boys.

Our Wedding Cake was… 4 tiers. It was ivory in colour and was a mix of sponge and fruit. It was decorated in pearls and diamantés. I had a pearl heart topper and a personalized, handmade ceramic topper of me and Colin and I.

Our wedding was unique and special because… The Anderson Dance Crew, my photo booth, my sweetie table! The weather was fantastic and I had over 200 guests, including my Scottish Thistle netball squad and family members who had travelled from to be there with us.

Grooms speech

Our favourite part of the wedding was… Everything! Sharing the morning with my girls and family members was amazing! The ceremony was emotional as my dad wasn’t there but still I enjoyed every minute of it. The speeches were hilarious and everyone enjoyed them. Then during the reception a group of my friends delivered a special dance for us! It was outstanding. They called themselves the Anderson Dance Crew and had practised for 5 weeks in the run up to the big day! Very special moment!

What is your advice for other brides? I spent a lot of money on my wedding and made it special but that is what I wanted to do. I spent 2.5 years planning to make it unique to us. I had everyone I wanted there and spent a fantastic day with all of our friends. I would definitely aim to get discounts on every purchase. When I bargained with suppliers I got money off everything! Weddings are expensive and some suppliers take full advantage. I was given the advice not to pay the asking price for anything and I stuck to this. Whether it was receiving a free bridesmaid dress or by making my own favours, I was able to cut costs easily!

Our honeymoon was… To Riveria Maya in Mexico. We stayed in the Eldorado Seaside Suites. It surpassed our expectations!
