How old are you both?

I’m 24 and he’s 26.

Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?

He proposed at the harbour in Corfu Town at night time. Was very romantic. I was only 17 at the time and happily agreed as long as we had a long engagement.

Did you have hen and stag celebrations? If so, what did you do?

I went to stay at the Hilton in Belfast with 10 mates and had a night of partying. He had a night at the dogs with loads of friend and family then a mad party at the best man’s house.

How did your groom help with the wedding planning?

He didn’t and that suited me just fine. He was happy to let me have the day that I had always dreamed of.

Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?

All the time. I found a soprano to sing in church through the website and also my champagne fountain.

Did you buy any confetti products for your wedding? If so, did you visit a store, buy online or by mail order?

I was never out of the Glasgow store picking up bits and bobs. The groom, ushers, best man were all wearing socks from confetti on the big day!

Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it

It was a beautiful ivory silk off the shoulder gown. I bought it at a designer dress sale and saved a fortune.

you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?

My younger sister was my bridesmaid. She wore a stunning two tone orange and gold dress.

Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?

His best friend was the best man and the ushers were a friend and an uncle. They all wore navy suits with tails and gold waistcoats. They all looked so handsome.

Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?

Religious.

Where did you hold your ceremony?

Merrylea Parish Church in Glasgow.

Where did you hold your reception?

Pollokshields Burgh Halls.

Did you have any special wedding transport?

A vintage ivory and burgundy Beauford and two Daimlers.

How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?

96 day time and another 30 or so in the evening.

Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?

My colours were ivory, gold and orange.

How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?

The tables were stunning. I had ivory table covers, ivory napkins with a gold bow, ivory chair covers with a gold bow and really tall vases filled with satsumas with a lovely arrangement of grass, stralitsias and orange gerberas on top as centrepieces. The guests loved it!

Did you give your guests favours?

Mini Baileys for the ladies and mini malt whiskey for the gents as well as cigars for the gents too!

Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?

Bouquets were white calla lilies with lots of greens. Orange lilies for the mens’ suits and centrepieces were orange stralitsias, grass and orange gerberas. My florist was Every Bloomin Thing in Glasgow. She was fab!

What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?

I had outside caterers. Our menu was: pate and bannocks with chutney or melon to start. Then summer lentil soup. Then a choice of fillet steak with haggis in whiskey cream or salmon in an Italian tomato and herb broth. Then for dessert we had chocolate orange truffle cheesecake with cream. To finish we had tea, coffee and tablet. YUM!

What did you choose for your wedding cake, and who made it?

I wasn’t too fussed about my cake and told my caterer to surprise me. I told him how much I wanted to spend and the cake was STUNNING! I’m not really into cakes but I thought it was beautiful The caterer later told me that he went way over budget as he wanted to see the look on my face when I saw how beautiful the cake was. I hardy wanted to cut it!

Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?

I had a soprano singing in church, a pianist at the drinks reception then a fab Motown band for the evening. They had the floor filled all night.

Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?

Didn’t have a gift list.

Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?

We went home on our first night together. We ended up sitting in my friend’s house (she lives next door) till 5.30am drinking champagne. We went to Jamaica on honeymoon.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?

Walking out of the church as husband and wife. We were so happy and felt we could relax after the service.

Did you experience any ‘nightmare’ moments in the run up to your wedding or on the day?

Just the usual family woes. Nothing major.

Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?

I wouldn’t change it for the world. I had the most amazing day. My advice would be to chill out and enjoy it. Don’t get too upset about little details. You only have one wedding day so don’t spend it getting upset that something has gone wrong or its raining, etc.
