How and when did you meet?
In December 2001. We were friends and met through Andrew’s ex-girlfriend.
Where, when and how did he (or you!) propose?
At our house. He arranged for my sister to take me out while my ring was put inside a balloon. When I came home I walked in the living room and he popped the balloon and asked me.
Did you have hen and stag celebrations?
I went to Blackpool to see the Grease musical and Andrew went on a canal boating weekend in Chester.
Did your groom help you with the wedding planning?
Well he cancelled our venue 22 weeks before the wedding! He was very helpful and keen to be included in all of the plans.
Did you use confetti to plan your wedding? If so, how did the website help you?
Very helpful. I decided I wanted a pig theme wedding so people that knew where I could get stuff from were really helpful.
Tell us about your outfit, and where you bought it.
I wore a Veromia two-piece.
Did you have bridesmaids? If so, who did you choose and what did they wear?
I had five bridesmaids – my two sisters, a friend and two children.
Who did your groom choose for his best man and ushers, and what did they wear?
Andy’s best friends were his best man and ushers. They all wore Edwardian morning suits.
Did you have a civil or religious ceremony?
We had a religious ceremony.
Where did you hold your ceremony?
Stockton church near Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
Where did you hold your reception?
Haughton Hall in Shifnal, Shropshire.
Did you have any special wedding transport?
We had two Ford Daimlers.
How many guests did you invite to your wedding, and did you have a separate evening guest list?
There were 65 day guests and 120 in the evening.
Did your reception have a particular theme in terms of colour or style?
Lilac and pigs!
How did you incorporate this in to your table settings?
We had little pig favours.
Did you give your guests favours?
Pig favours and miniatures.
Describe your flowers (bouquets and table decorations). Who was your florist?
White and lilac roses and eustoma.
What did you choose to have on your menu? Did you have an outside caterer or did your venue handle the catering?
Our venue did the catering – we had roast beef for the wedding breakfast and a finger buffet in the evening.
What did you choose for your wedding cake?
Our cake was three stacked suitcases.
Did you have any entertainment during the day or evening?
We had a bouncy castle and a disco.
Did you have a gift list? If so, who did you have your list with?
Our gift list was held at Debenhams.
Where did you spend your first night and honeymoon? Who did you book your honeymoon with?
We went to The Maldives.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Andrew saying ‘I will’ when the vicar asked if any one knew a reason for us not to marry!
Is there anything you would do differently, or any advice you would give to other brides?
It’s your day – do it how you want to and savour every moment – it goes so quickly. Make sure you get some wedding cake!
