Lorraine and David Real Engagement Story

After a stormy two years in bad relationships, I moved away to a new area to start afresh. After all, I had no family and no friends, so what did I have to lose?

I worked hard during the week trying to establish myself in a new workplace as a manager and spent my weekends looking for somewhere to live. It was like it had to be this way; I needed to go through the hard times to appreciate the good. And I’d had more than my fair share of hard times.

After two weeks at work, I noticed someone in the office who seemed to rent a desk in the corner. David would come in for a brief chat and then disappear for what seemed like weeks. When he was in the office he was polite and made me feel worthy again and, most importantly, made me feel welcome in my new workplace. He then went away for a few weeks. I found myself wondering where he was and who with. He returned eventually and said that he was glad I was still with the company. After what seemed like some very awkward chatting in meaningless conversations, he offered to help me buy a car, as I was new to the area.

This happened, and in the next three months we fell into a whirlwind romance. David made me feel like I had never felt before. He made me laugh; he wanted me for me only, and not what I could give him. Most of all he made me feel like a woman and treated me like royalty. We went to Turkey for a holiday where we became closer and talked about everything under the sun; it was the sort of conversation that meant that neither of us wanted to be without the other for the rest of our lives.

In November we went to Disneyland Paris with his family. The place was awesome, unbelievable and very romantic. The nights were cold and icy which meant we had to hold each other tighter and his family made me feel so welcome. On the last day we arranged to have breakfast with the Disney Characters in Walt’s Restaurant. As we finished eating, David stood up and said he wanted to say something before we all left. He walked over, got on one knee and asked me to marry him, in front of his family, Captain Hook, Goofy and Mickey Mouse. Everyone cheered when I said yes – even the Disney characters! David presented me with a silver wedding band which had diamonds set around the ring in the shape of Mickey Mouse.

We’re looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together whilst we arrange our wedding plans for later this year. Neither of us can believe that, after several miserable relationships, something this good exists. We still pinch ourselves and remind each other of how lucky we are to have found such happiness.
