Darren and I have been friends since we were eleven years old, ever since we first met in our tutor group at secondary school. We started dating when he was taking his A levels and after 4 years together, he asked me to marry him one day when we were out walking by the Bristol suspension bridge.
That day, I had thought we were just going on a walk as we often did when it was not raining, and so we arrived at the bridge and sat on the grass nearby. He sat behind me, and soon we were in deep conversation when he started talking about how well I look after him. Then, suddenly he turned and dropped to one knee and, holding a diamond solitaire ring, asked me to marry him. I was so excited and surprised but I of course said yes, and then fell into fits of laughter, followed by tears and more laughter. I then treated him to an ice cream before we made our way home to see our parents, who of course already knew it was going to happen!
We are due to get married on 20 August 2005 and cannot wait.
