With roses cascading down the bride’s gown, dazzling in the bouquet, and scenting the reception room, Gemma and Rob created a stunningly romantic day to remember forever. Captured in all its July glory by JK Photography, they couple shared this most beautiful of occasions with friends and family.

We met… whilst studying maths at Exeter University.
First impressions of your husband… tall, handsome with a captivating smile, I was delighted to later learn he had the personality to match.
His first impressions of you… Gemma seemed to be very ‘girl next door’ – very attractive with beautiful long blonde hair, very intelligent, definitely my type and real girlfriend material.
He proposed… The setting for our proposal was a quiet, tourist-free spot on a bridge over the River Tiber in Rome with St Peter’s Basilica as the background.
What was your dress like? My dress was ‘Cabaret’ by Ian Stuart; a one-shoulder, fishtail dress, opening out into cascading roses down one side. I felt it had the classically elegant look I was after whilst still attracting attention!
What was your ceremony like? We had written our own vows for our ceremony, which made it a very heart-felt, warm but emotional affair – the room was filled with tears (although they were mostly mine)!
What was your favourite part of the wedding? Entering the ceremony room down the sweeping staircase clutching my Dad’s arm and then seeing Rob smiling back at me, I was overcome with emotion.
We chose our venue because… it felt like a home-from-home; offering the friendly, intimate, family atmosphere we desired (with accommodating hosts, Barrie and Libbie) and spectacular surroundings – panoramic views over the Hog’s Back. To make the most of the view we hired a marquee from Carron Marquees and kept our fingers tightly crossed all year for good weather… on the day it was perfect!
What were your wedding theme/colours? The theme was romance and roses, in shades of dusky pink and ivory.
What was the song for the first dance? You’ve Got the Love by Florence and the Machine.
What is your advice for other brides? Don’t worry if you get stressed before your big day, it will all be worth it as you will cherish the memories (of what will honestly be the greatest day of your life) forever.
