I thought that I would tell you about my romantic proposal.
Peter and I had been together for almost 4 years when we went to Scotland on holiday last year. We had discussed getting married in Scotland in passing before, so I was really excited when we decided to go there on holiday, hoping that he would propose.
Peter isn’t your most romantic chap, but he has his moments! We went to Inchcolme Abbey, on Inchcolme Island just off South Queensferry (which is where I wanted to marry after seeing a friend of a friends wedding photo’s). We had a wonderful time in Scotland and the Abbey was more than perfect for a proposal, however nothing happened. All week I hoped that he would ask me, but with no such luck.
On the last day we were travelling home in the pouring rain and I thought that he wouldn’t ask me and that I would have to wait. We pulled over in a car park to stop for a loo break at Loch Loamond.
When I returned he was standing in the pouring rain by the edge of the Lock. I went over to tell him to get out of the rain, when he got down on one knee and proposed!! He said he had been waiting all week for the right time and location but nothing seemed special enough and the reason for not asking me at the Abbey was that was where we are going to be married and wanted to keep that place a special for us.
So we now have two special locations and are to be married at Inchcolme Abbey on Inchcolme Island, Scotland on 26th May of this year. And yes, he and our male guests are wearing kilts!!
