I first layed eyes on Steve while I was at work. I am an Air Stewardess and on the 22nd May 1998 I got called out for a flight to Teneriefe. While boarding the passengers to come back to London I noticed the young man sitting opposite my crew station. The first thing I remember were his eyes and just how blue they were. Then I saw the Cheeky grin and realized that we were going to have a bit of a laugh. He kept coming to the back of the aircraft to find me for a chat.
Any way he gave me his number and asked me to call. Two weeks and a bottle of wine later I called, it was the best thing I ever did.
We didn’t see each other for the first two months but we did a lot of talking on the phone, we watched movies, cooked and had dinner and even fell asleep together on the phone, I knew at this point he was the one for me and all I could remember were his eyes.
We eventually met up and I recognised him instantly. We spent every weekend together and eventually I moved in with him. We recently bought our home in a cosy little village.
He came home on the 9th of February, I was well into a big Spring clean and not looking my best, he seemed very restless and kept going on about an event in the town that we should go and see there and then.
Well I wasn’t ready to give up on the cleaning and said it could wait, he insisted we go and I gave in winging all the way to the town that I sould have changed and wanting to know exactly what was going on!!
He to me to the prettiest place in the town, the church at the end of the cobbled road (as we know it) And under the stars on that clear night he proposed, I couldn’t believe my ears.
As I said yes we hugged and hugged and then put the ring on and at that point the organ started playing in the church. All this was on the spur of the moment and unrhursed which made it all the more romantic. I can’t wait to grow old loving this man.
