We can sum up Veronica & Alejandro’s real wedding in one word… Cool. We love the images of our super chic couple in the streets of London, the urban street graffiti captured in the background is a stroke of genius from Douglas Fry. For brides looking for a wedding that has a touch of elegance with street cred then this week’s real wedding is for you. We also can’t get enough of Veronicas beautiful detailed short wedding dress, it’s just so adorable. Enjoy!
Bride and Groom… Veronica and Alejandro
Wedding date… Friday 13th June 2014
We met… At a friend’s party. He thought I was engaged to my ex-boyfriend!
Length of engagement… 1 month. We’d been together for 3 years by then.
Our wedding photographer was… Douglas Fry. We chose him based on his previous work and we loved the fact that he didn’t use flash. Since we were having a small wedding, we didn’t want to ‘feel’ there was a photographer and his ‘discretion’ promise on the website made it appealing for us. Also, his wife Samantha, who manages him, is an amazing account manager. She’s super quick answering emails and following up with all the details. They’re a great team and we are glad we chose them.
Our wedding ceremony was… At Chelsea Old Town Hall. We had a very small wedding. Only family and close friends, we had 13 people total. The parents of the groom and other close friends who couldn’t make it watched the ceremony from a live stream.
The dress… I bought 3 dresses, 2 online and 1 from House of Fraser without trying it on. I couldn’t decide which one to wear, and I literally decided to go with the one I wore 5 minutes before leaving my house.
For my hair and make up… I wanted it to be very natural and summery. I hired a makeup artist from the MAC store at Westfield.
Our wedding reception was… At the Boundary Rooftop Restaurant, Shoreditch. We wanted a venue with an open space-rooftop, garden, etc. We did some research online, and after a couple of visits and tastings, we chose The Boundary Rooftop.
Our wedding theme was… Summertime soiree, headpieces were encouraged.
Did anything funny or unusual happen at your wedding? We got married on Friday the 13th because it was the only available date. I guess other brides dread the date. We’re clearly not superstitious and we had the best weather London has seen in months!
Our favourite part of the wedding was… Everything! The ceremony was spectacular and the venue, the food, the ambience were incredible too. A very memorable part was the ‘urban’ photo-shoot with Douglas with the street graffiti at Shoreditch.
Our wedding was unique and special because… Of all the people accompanying us and the ones watching the live stream.
The first dance… We didn’t do a dance because it was a very small wedding, but we chose very cool songs for the ceremony. Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole for my entrance, and Happy by Pharell Williams for the end. Everybody was dancing and super hyped up.
What is your advice for other brides? Buy as many dresses and shoes as you want. You don’t have to make up your mind right at a store. Take everything home, and then decide! Don’t worry about flowers. Let your mum or the lady at the shop tell you what to choose, it drove me crazy until I finally let go and they were perfect. Best choices: Douglas Fry as a Photographer and Verity as a Makeup Artist.
