Nestled on a golf course in the rolling Derbyshire Peak District sits Marriott Breadsall Priory Hotel, the oldest Marriott hotel in the world and the wedding venue chosen by our 2014 Win a Wedding winners Laura and Daniel! Just to refresh your memory, Laura and Daniel have won a £40,000 wedding, the UK’s largest wedding competition ever, which includes their Kanika honeymoon, an Eternity Bridal wedding dress, a Waitrose wedding cake and Confetti.co.uk is supplying all the wedding decor and stationery. Journey with us for a nosy around the luxurious Breadsall Priory.
We traveled to Breadsall Priory one early autumn day. Across the Pennines and in and out of valleys in the Peak District, autumn leaves magnificently coloured in ruby, pumpkin and marigold hues blew past in the gentle breeze. Turning in Breadsall Priory’s tree-lined driveway, we swooned and let out a collective awwww as we got our first glimpses of this stunning priory venue.
Past the golfers dotted around the golf course and on to the 13th century venue, we immediately fell under the magical spell Breadsall Priory cast. Maybe it was the gorgeous blue skies, the richly coloured golf course or the historic building–no matter what it was that drew us in, the entire package of the venue as a whole captivated us. The friendly, welcoming staff, breathtaking views, delicious food and showstopping facilities were the icing on the cake.
By choosing Breadsall Priory as their wedding venue, Laura and Daniel will be permitted to use the country club’s facilities including their 18-hole golf course, spa, indoor swimming pool and gym. Laura and Daniel will also be spending their wedding night in one of Breadsall Priory’s bridal suites.
With five rooms licensed to perform civil wedding ceremonies, suited to seat anywhere from 16 to 110 seated guests, Breadsall Priory is the ideal location for most sized weddings and ceremonies. The stunning Morley Room, an intimate facility with space to seat a maximum of 70 guests, will house Laura and Daniel’s ceremony. They’ll boogey the night away in the Pavillion suite and have their breakfast dinner here, too.
Breadsall Priory offers four wedding packages starting from £1,800 up to £6,999. Each package offers a variety of different features and brides-to-be wanting to have their wedding at the priory can liaise with staff to create a tailored package. From the perfectly manicured golf course, to the enchanting gardens and the fountained lakes, the grounds of Breadsall Priory provide the perfect background to your wedding photographs.
Those wanting to make a celeb-style entrance to their wedding, can capitialise on Breadsall Priory’s helipad, situated close to the golf course’s 18th hole, with sweeping views to neighbouring Derby. Of course, if you’d prefer to make an entrance that’s a bit more grounded, a horse-drawn buggy or classic car would also fit the bill of this stylish venue.
